‘Underdesign’ eyed in Isabela bridge collapse | INQToday

The portion of a bridge connecting the towns of Cabagan and Sta. Maria in Isabela province may have collapsed due to underdesign, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.

a 10 wheeler trucks can be at 40 Mtons at most, if it goes higher, the chasses and its tires maybe damaged when travelling. The bridge is design using moving loads with factor of safety included. if the bridge is under designed, lahat ng dina-anan sa tulay ay damage din. it seems that the portion of the bridge was not properly inspected during installation, kaya bumigay. I think No concrete compressive strength was made. As Reported, It was Open Feb. 1 and collapsed Feb.27 after retrofitting. SAYANG but we need people na mananagot para wag ng tularan.

Over designed pero substandard talaga walang hiya ang mga Engrs at contractor niya n bridge don't ever put the blame to the dump track

In 1968 I observed that the big trucks have six wheels only but as years go by came 10 to wheelers. Now that I am 68 years old I see a lot of 22 wheelers but the thickness of the concrete roads remain the same…22 wheelers will be the future cargo transportation hence when we repair our roads by reblocking we should increase its thickness by 50%…
We should repair the Atimonan, Quezon diversion road as back up to the “ Bitukang Manok “ traditional road… Our President and Speaker of the House must focus on infrastructure projects of this roads to make true the slogan “ Build Better More “ .

Maliit ang mga hanger rods at kokonti lng 6 on each sides naka vertical pa.
Ang ibang bridge ay meron more than 15 hanger rods in each side naka cross pa
yung iba gumaganit pa ng stranded steel cable na mas matibay at mas flexible

T8e rods snaps or break. If this is a national roads, the roads must be designed to accomodate transport of heavy goods and others if there is a war, what happens isf you can not transport your war equipments like bulldozers, tanks, ammunitions and others The design not sturdy enough to hold. As in press review, the bridge is only for low or light equipments. This is bad...

Si Engr. cañete nag design diyan, one of the prominent bridges designer here sa Philippines. Most likely corruption nangyari diyan during construction.
