I like to imagine there is a parallel universe somewhere in which the hugely successful Dream of Spring (wrapping up the greatest fantasy series of all time) was adapted over Seasons 11 and 12 of Game of Thrones, thoroughly cementing its place as the greatest television series of all time.

I'm never not going to be sad that this series will never be finished by George. Even if we get Winds of Winter, there's still A Dream of Spring to write, and I just don't see how he can wrap this whole story up in just two books.

I would very much hope 'the village hero' would be set in Pennytree. We have Duncan thinking about it a lot as Ser Arlan is from there and he wonders where it is. We know from the Jaime chapter it became a royal fief around 100 years ago (about the time of Dunc and Egg) after years of being feuded over by the Blackwoods and Brackens (a feud has been raised in each of the 3 Dunc and Egg books). In fact, Jaime specifically thinks about the story of the town here but doesn't find out (potentially suggesting Martin is saving this for another book). It is also a good opportunity for Egg to meet his future wife, Betha Blackwood. So lots of potential for adventures.
