SURF MUNDAKA DANGEROUS SESSION 20 10 2024

Dangerous surfing session in Mundaka on 20-10-2024. First big swell of the season. More than 200 surfers in the water causing disrespect with dangerous cut offs and snakes. Perfect waves for surfers who were lucky enough to have not a cut off or have to dodge people while riding the wave. One of the biggest surf crowds in Mundaka.

I was gifted with epic Mundaka conditions in 1995. 6ft with just a few in the lineup. The only time I surfed there.🙌🏻

You missed it! Surfed there for 2 seasons in 82-83. 6 guys out all foreigners, friends of mine, not a single Spaniard/Euro surfed at that time. Surfing has gone from the Sport of Kings to the Sport of Kooks. Before no one filmed anything, there was no Social Media. Now everyone has a camera, many trying to sellout spots for ad $. The sport is basically ruined, now dangerous, screaming locals, stressful & no fun.

Holy fkn crowd... How do you even find the right guy to punch in the head with so many in there?? Drop-ins are the worst, especially in big surf with unfriendly bottom surfaces with a notable mention for Puerto Escondido because even though it is sand, that heaviness is deadly.

Mundaka like always. Local kooks, foreign kooks and a few basque semi-pros scoring. Not worth it. 2 hours waiting to be droped in seconds later when you were thinking you were going to get barreled.

I surfed here in 94. I remember wishing there were more people around cause it felt really spooky out there. Be very careful what you wish for.

I got it to myself on a tiny, chest high day last winter. Long and glassy. I hate crowds so would never surf it big. Surfed a few spots 20 years ago in the north regions uncrowded. The last ten years its been too crowded.

Im from there, and i never Saw this waves before in mundaka, not even the Epic day of 2006 when the pros were there.
