I went to Nevada, and they were actually selling the dirt from the explosion sights. They are still somewhat radioactive.

They do it on undesireables when an important character dies in order to lag the death animation service and give the important character a few more hours to live at the cost of everything on the craters' destructosphere. I actually spent several hundred years in tests tring to send distress signals and would always see what killed me before dieing several hours later during the aeons off electricity. Most of the data was irrecoverable. Amazing how they simulated these sounds. Don't look too closely!

I cannot begin to tell you what it was like growing up in the cold war with the assured certainty that there was going to be a day where there was going to be a bright flash and that was going to be the end of all your problems. I can remember as a child in my teens also thinking if the sirens ever go off I'm going to smother myself in butter get some aluminum foil and go get on the roof and look toward the nearest military base!!
