Same here. I did 2 years of college in high school and graduated with an AA degree but that was more of an opportunistic thing because the state was paying my tuition and I would have had to go to high school those 2 years anyway if I hadnt gone to college. But I chose not to do anything beyond that because I grew up with tech and lived in tech central and knew I could land a job easily in something I loved. Im now 35 and making 120K a year with no 4 year degree and never had a cent of debt. Intelligence and aptitude are the most important things. Sticking a dumb person in college isn't going to make him or her any smarter and their performance after that will reflect this. This push to send everyone to college never acknowledges that fact.

That's because Mr Buffet is a genius, unlike most ordinary people. He doesn't really need to go to college.

I think that skilled trade is a great education, it gives one a sense of real world skills, you aren’t trapped behind a desk, hands on and the money is there in many different trades...in my opinion, with a little extra money on the side its a cool venture to learn the stock and trade investment market. Begin with looking into startups that have a a good vision and marketable demand in society and long term returns. Getting in at the start of a great product or company can literally turn into millions over time. Also, penny stocks are good with minimum investment, but can be risky, yet small negative impact. Commodities are a decent market if it’s a good brand, it’s pretty simple, have a small amount to invest into a portfolio or a single managed stock, pray, use your gut instincts, buy low, sell high, or there is the other method of buying as much as you can afford to and holding it, waiting for price to climb, shares to split and grow...or simply pick a favorite well known company or brand and sit back with it over time making the right moves at the right time. That’s where Warren is genius at, he goes after secure, but long term investments that are gonna be around and have a great reputation in the consumer world. it’s for sure the best of both worlds scenario to invest wisely, and not be afraid to learn about it. Not only does it make you money, but it stimulates the economic growth and development of national and world economy depending on what you pick.
But yeah, I personally worked 28 years in an industry that specialized in battery recycling, refining scrap. Not many skills I haven’t learned in my time.and it provided a wage more than a lot of college jobs, and what’s cool is the company, DOE RUN COMPANY, they would pay for college reimbursement after you were vested in the company. So it’s a win/win. A very creative attitude and mindset doesn’t hurt either. Lol
Thanks for your wisdom Warren, it’s always intriguing to listen to you share and essentially teach is younger fellas.
