Sorry, but there's too much representation from the Arctic Monkeys here. There are also too few pre-1980s artists. Nothing from The Kinks? The Stranglers? Genesis? Judas Priest? Yes? Def Leppard? Status Quo? Only one track from The Who? I feel this list was made by someone under 40 and with a relatively limited knowledge of British music, familiar with just the most obvious tracks prior to the 1980s, and with a disproportionate representation from post-2000.

Having re-read this, I see it's based on Spotify plays only. Shows how limited online streaming/listening is really. I suspect the bias is more in favour of younger listeners and doesn't reflect the true picture of what can be considered "best", in terms of most influential and most enduring, for example. You'd need to combine online streaming with other data too, like radio airplay and unit sales from other formats.

Dire Straits were British?
I already know that a great deal of classic rock bands were British, however American they may sounded like (Led Zeppelin !!).
I like the noticeable British accent of 80's bands such as the Smiths, Cure, Tears for Fears, Madness, and later Blur and Oasis.
