70's was when the compressor took over and if you wanted to mimic a cash sound you could probs still use one to replicate the bite of older gear

THIS is the video I've been waiting for! Hate messing around with comp pedals and everything is so subtle.

Most Americans that like country hate anything that comes out of Nashville. You should come play out in Texas, you sound great🤠

You're a very clean player, your left hand fretting skills are excellent.

A year back I bought a “big name” mini compressor pedal that the high profile highly paid you tube influencers had been pushing very hard, only to find it added an unwanted mid range hump to my sound. Went straight back to my Boss CS3. It’s the best.

Lets face it, Boss makes awsome pedals. Built like a tank. Great playing and review.

What I heard from an unusual guitar like an old melody maker or Les Paul junior w a single pickup like a beginners guitar back in the day but sound a lot like a fender twang Kind of strange I thought thinking I might pick one up used to see em in pawn shops all the time n thought they were junk but a lot of famous people have used them Billy Gibbons and others started out with the cheaper versions. I started with a Kay guitar thought they were junk but the sucker stayed in tune. So who's to say as in one mans garbage is another mans gold.

You know what prevents these compression demonstrating videos from really showing what's happening? YouTube's inherent compression. I wish it wasn't there so we could truly hear the difference between compressed audio and uncompressed audio. Doesn't matter if it's guitar or vocals or drums, YouTube compresses audio when the video creator's compressor is off. The ice-pick attack on Teles and a lot of Strats doesn't come through on here. It doesn't do the video creator justice after all the hard work they've done!

It’s in the fingers folks.
Those pickups aren’t vintage style. They are much hotter and don’t twang like Alnico’s

I like that snappy chicken picin sound but unfortunately I messed up my index finger so Idont know if Ill even be able to play anymore its healed but still painful maybe I should try steel pedal but not sure I wanna go there either. But I started playing rock bass n was having trouble with speed so I quit using a pick n found it easier and faster took a while just fingering I imagine guitar to be similar funny how we learn things but switching from guitar to bass occasionally I believe can help both.

Three years after this video was 2025

1. Waylon Jennings
2. Fender Telecaster
3. Fender Super Six, Bassman, Twin (that ilk)
4. Phaser

Came across an Andertons demo video of the new Custom '68 Pro Reverb and 68 Custom Vibro Champ. With Strat and Tele...
Sounded like Waylon's mid 80s "Rose in Paradise" vibe.
Check them both out.

Thumbs up. What is the best order for overdrive, delay, and compression pedals?

I can’t play a telecaster without one. It keeps the string volume all evened out. Without it the G string barks out louder than the other strings which drives me nuts. With compression on I don’t have to worry about it.

Of course it also adds the “ snap and pop” to the guitar tone

The most important pedal for a Country picker, that you only notice when it's NOT there.
