Hands On: Internet Explorer 9

Today Microsoft showed off a developer preview of their next browser, Internet Explorer 9. In this video I take a look at it and show off some of it's new features, HTML 5 and hardware acceleration.

I really don't have much experience with Hypercam, so I really can't tell you. Maybe try just recording video and then record the audio seperate and put them together in a video editor? I always do that anyway with my screencasts.

Yeah IE6. Although I don't really have a problem with that, the only reason anyone should ever be using IE6 is if you have Win 98 or something...and in that case you need a new computer lol.

It's hard to say right now, but I can say that right now IE9 looks impressive. It might not jump to the top, but at the least it won't be terrible compared with the rest of the field.

No, they haven't said anything about when it will be released. My best guess would be maybe this summer, but I honestly have no idea so I could be entirely wrong. :P

No it doesn't at the moment, just Vista and Win 7. I seriously doubt that it will stay that way for long though, it's just for the preview build right now as far as I know.

That's not a big deal though, hardware acceleration is just something added, if you don't have great hardware the worst it can do is perform like the other browsers.

For sure. IE9 isn't anywhere near ready to actually change to, the preview is buggy as hell. But it's still complete enough to see the promise once it's complete.

YouTube doesn't let you post links in the comments, but go search Mozilla Developer Preview 3.7. That's the official name, but it's really Firefox.

Maybe try running it as administrator? Not really sure, I've never heard of that before. Otherwise you can try out Camtasia, that's really great.

No no, this is just the preview. The UI will be entirely changed by the time it's released, this is just a placeholder.

@saynomorefr Oh yeah, Chrome is my favorite browser as well. But there's no denying that IE9 is looking fairly impressive.

Same here, I've always avoided IE like the plague but this release looks different.

Yeah, right now it's only just around to look at, it's not all that usable yet.

Actually never mind, it looks like it won't ever run on XP. My bad.

Yeah, but there's a demo you can use.

Look up CamStudio, it's what I use.

@Iamthecatwithfish I think that's what people said about Apple before, and now within my lifetime it's like they're taking over the world or something and I'm no Apple fan, far from it. So, maybe one of these days you'll look back at this comment and think to yourself that you were such an idiot, or maybe I will, who knows. All I know is, don't judge a product by it's brand. Just cause it has the same name doesn't mean it'll work the same.

@lightningwar123 ah, that's a good improvement, still I ll have to test it myself on my pc to see. unfortunately I don't have win 7 yet. still using xp. but I hope they won't screw my gpu too. they promised IE 8 to be great step. but the speed was disappointing although they fixed a lot of quirkiness that used to mess our programming brain which is a great step in the right direction. hope IE 9 will be the one IE that i won't hate.
