So much fun! The Game Master Shane was AWESOME, super nice and passionate about what he does. He definitely gets you amped up and excited to play. The game is alllll about communication and teamwork. It was genuinely a fun challenge. It was a hard room but you can work your way through it. This was my first time doing this and it was only 2 of us and we managed to complete 80% of it so you can definitely do it with a small number of people if need be. My husband and I went to our first Escape Room challenge with 4 other couples and we ALL had a blast!! While a few of my friends have done something similar they said this was by far the best room. The Host/ Manager Shane was AWESOME!!! He made this experience over the top. While we didn't escape, we only had 2 steps to go. My son wanted to go to Escape Room for his 14th birthday and I was a bit unsure about it. We decided to try it as a 2 person team, just he and I. We had SO MUCH FUN! Unfortunately, we weren't able to escape (just two clues away) but that hour with my son was probably the most one on one, uninterrupted, positive time we've had together in years. We have done a few escape rooms in NJ and Europe - had a chance to try out this Madison location with a group of 13.
Easy to make reservation via call and text. Got our first choice of a Sunday morning at 10:30. Easy to park, easy to find and great decor when you enter.
We had the pleasure of having the manager direct our play (forgive me, asked his name and I have still forgotten it)...Explained the rules, explained why we were there and our mission in The Cabin.
Here's why this is one of our favorite rooms. 1. They take LARGE groups. Most places have a limit of 8-10 - and there is a reason why (see #2). Madison will take up to 18 I believe for a booking. Perfect for our large group of friends. 2. Most other rooms we have done are linear. That is - you findA which leads you to B which leads you to C and so on. Not here - you can have multiple people in your groups doing their own discovery and have a result. You could find 4 clues at once and all will help to the end. You don't need to go one by one. Having 8-10 people all focused on one thing gets a little crazy. Lots of space and 10-13 year olds, the adults and the super sleuths could all be doing something. Don't get me wrong, communication is still key but liked this approach.
3. Also, they label unnecessary things (outlets) and no red herrings. Two clues may lead to one thing but you are not spending time tracking down something that is not necessary.
We had a blast. We had a special challenge and enjoyed a dance party in the middle of the game. You may ask for a clue but too many and you are getting timed penalties (brilliant!). There was a snafu and something didn't open that should have but we were having so much fun we didn't need to complain when our host had to run into the room - at least he stopped the clock.
We escaped with 2 seconds left - a few of the veterans thought it was the best room to date. We can't wait for the next room to open in 4-6 weeks, we will be lined up and ready to go! - by Tber on TripAdvisor.
