How To Make Blood Orange Pound Cake - The Boy Who Bakes

Whilst I am not a fan of cliched valentines day baking I LOVE the look of this cake, made with no colouring just the wonderful colour and flavour that comes from blood oranges. And even better this cake is really easy to make but looks super impressive.

You reminded me that I had blood oranges in the fridge! 😏 Made this today, minus the glaze and toppings. Such a lovely loaf cake. The flavour of the blood orange from the zest was magnificent! I used sour cream in place of double cream. And the tip about the butter down the center of the cake (before baking) was magic!! That was a new baking tip that I hope I remember through the years.😊

This cake looks so good! I was wondering if I could substitute double cream for something else? I've only seen cream with 33% of fat content in local stores and that's the highest fat conent that I can get, really.

This looks really good!! I wish my loaf pan was that tall, but it's a regular 9x5. Anyways, we don't have anymore blood oranges here, so have you done this with regular navel oranges? I actually want to do a orange and lemon combo. Also, what does using heavy cream do for the cake?
