A wonderful process of reverse osmosis had made this possible.
Distillation was inefficient process and we moved on to reverse osmosis.
More studies will lead us to more efficient process of desalination of ocean water to tackle the crisis f fresh drinking water ahead.

I worked for Mantech/ILF consortium who were metro waters consultants for Minjur desalination plant at chennai. From 2007 to 2010. Civil contractors Ivrcl did substandard civil works. Metro engineers were missing from site to ensure quality. Ivrcl was dictating terms. Ivrcl was raided by income tax and CBI at hq Hyderabad. Ivrcl does not have works.
