I'm 28 years old with deadly food allergies and I wish I'd learned earlier how anaphylaxis works, this video demystified it for me and made the threat a lot less scary, thanks!

I am a paramedic student and you just solidified my understanding of anaphylaxsis. Thank you so much. I was also confused about what actually happened, even after I got my EMT. THANK YOU!!

This is an absolutely fantastic video. I often feel that when writing about medical processes, many people would rather show off their knowledge rather than making it understandable. I really love that these videos make it so easy to understand!

As usual, you of Khan Academy make everything so clear and easy to understand. It was funny to know at 33 which mechanism almost killed me for four times. Thanks.

Aug 1 2021 was chilling outside trying to enjoy my turkey sandwich. All the sudden a yellow jacket bit my upper lip. Within 2 minutes I felt itchiness on my hands and feet. Rush into the house to jump into the shower hoping to feel better. Within 5 minutes after the sting I passed out on the bathroom floor. Don't know how long I was unconscious. Finally crawling into my bedroom looking for phone to call 911 while struggling to breathe and talk to a dispatcher while chocking to death. I was in and out of consciousness. In the meanwhile my bile was moving uncontrollably with stomach pain and nauseous. EMT finally arrived while I was trying to crawl back onto the toilet. Yep had full diarrhea while people stared at me pooping and passing out and failed down from the toilet. Weaken muscle laying on the floor with my own fece and all I've heard EMT saying there's something else going on. I struggled to breathe and scream no just They literally had to drag me out the door into the ambulance and pumped benadryl epinephrine, steroids, hooked up on IVs and hurt fully clipped my gel nail to monitor my blood pressure on the way to the ER. Within 10 minutes from enjoying a Turkey sandwich in the backyard to fighting for my life in an ambulance. Closest to death I've ever experienced. Been perfectly healthy 51 years of my life and never thought I could be allergic to anything other than seasonal allergies. ER doctor confirmed it was anaphylactic shock and now having to carry epi pen with me at all times as the next insect bite will be deadly. Definitely going to make appointment to see an allergist for wasp Hornets and other infectious allergies. Bummer I'm such a nature lover now I have to be extremely careful. Bee sting venom affects your vital organs especially your lungs your heart and your bowel. Needless to say it was a shztty Sunday but thank God I'm still alive and want to go to the beach and travel around the world and dream of traveling to space before I pass this earth to the next life. Count your blessings and love your loved ones before it is too late. 😭🙏🧡

Thank you so much I was taking penicillin and then my legs became string beans and I went down fast. Luckily I had only taken part of the pill for some reason . I had taken penicillin before in the past and thought nothing of it.  I started to pass out. My friend came into the room just then and I couldn't hear him and everything started to turn black
and his face was a little circle. I laid there a while and then could hear and could see again. And waited till the paramedics came and took me to the hospital.

It's horrible. I was actually in anaphylactic shock. It happened so fast I couldn't believe it. I was barely moving air by the time paramedics arrived and in the ambulance I stopped breathing altogether. I thought his face was going to be the last thing I saw.

My allergic reaction happened last year at summer camp. I got red itchy eyes and the eye drops didn’t work and mom made me have allergy medicine and it worked.
