Fun fact, this isn’t even the first time jaywalking was brought up during KPR. Back when Boatman played Meta Knightmare Returns, jaywalking was brought up for the exact same reason, which led into discussing if various Kirby characters would jaywalk or not.
Time truly is a flat circle.

You forget that Hyness literally decked one of his subordinates for being in his way when going to fight Kirby. He would not just jaywalk; he would walk in a straight line for miles on end, stopping only to obliterate anything that stood in his path, and then suddenly realize he had only intended to go to the store to buy milk.
