In golf club fittings at 2nd Swing, master club fitters use a plethora of launch monitor data, including golf ball speed, to help dial in golfers for the equipment that's right for their swing. But what is ball speed, and how does it impact a golfer's performance?

In this video, 2nd Swing master fitters Thomas Campbell and Jackie Johnson hit a few shots with different clubs and discuss the impact of golf ball speed with the help of Trackman Technology.

The first video in the Trackman Tuesday series covers golf Ball Speed.

I always enjoy seeing Jackie work on the channel. She really knows what’s what! Plus at the beginning of this video, Jackie’s hair was pink. That’s a good look. Now if we can just get Thomas to dye his hair! And thanks to both of you for teaching about golf!

AOA has a big effect on distance as well!

I would have thought that the club path and face angle are impacting the ball speed like an out to in swing path with an open club face would less efficient.

The loft of a driver has a secondary or third order effect on ball speed. The length of the shaft (plus arm length) and the angular speed of the clubhead perpendicular to the ball is the primary determinant of ball speed.
