Today we look at how I can solve a PDF problem for a client using Linux. We need to grab a variety of active PDFs and combine them together keeping the active components and view / interact with them on Linux.

I use PDFSam on Windows and Linux for combining and splitting PDF files and it works great!

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial. I was not aware of this sort of problems with PDfs because i still don't use Linux as my main system. To be honest, i thought there was a PDF Architect for Linux. I guessed wrong. Meanwhile, i found two GUI for PDFTK, PDF Chain and PDFTK Builder. I must check all that stuff out.

What would be a good fix, if a PDF viewer's page numbers matched the document's page numbering If a doc starts with i, ii, iii, then page one etc., typing in page 2 would display page 2, which is the 5th physical page. Maybe this logic would be embedded in the document.

the issue I ran into with PDFs are Canadian Government forms. I could not open or fill out the forms in any of the Linux tools I tried including Firefox. I had to fill my wife's forms out in Foxit PDF in Windows. Since they were time sensitive..couldn't wait around and figure out a solution in Linux. Recently installed Debian 12 XFCE on my Thinkpad x200. Tried opening the same Gov forms from before and still nothing would open it..Firefox could open the form I could fill the form..but none of the changes could be saved. Having a PDF tool that can properly handle government fillable forms would be very helpful. I tried to install PDF studio under debian 12 XFCE but it didn't seem to want to install. Okular and Evince didn't open the form that we were trying to fill out. Under Debi1n 12 XFCE Firefox ESR could open the PDF to view...could fill the form but none of the filled data were saved. Might try Librewolf as mentioned in the video.
