Robin Hood chronicles the life of an expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richards army against the French. Upon Richards death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion (Oscar® winner Cate Blanchett), a woman skeptical of the identity and motivations of this crusader from the forest. Hoping to earn the hand of Maid Marion and salvage the village, Robin assembles a gang whose lethal mercenary skills are matched only by its appetite for life. Together, they begin preying on the indulgent upper class to correct injustices under the sheriff.

Finally a REAL feeling to this story. Having the same direction as Gladiator I can see Ridley Scott making this Tale into something it deserves, proving that not every story in folklore is immune to brutal interpretations.

I'll see almost anything Ridley Scott does, I don't even care who the actors are. He does great work.

Russell Crowe has worked hard to become the exceptional actor that he is. "Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World" and "Gladiator" are but two of the extraordinary films he has starred in. "Robin Hood" looks to be another feather in Mr. Crowe's hat as a fine master of his craft.

First off to all the people saying he's too old to be robin hood STFU! please. This story is probably closer to actual facts than Costners "Prince of Thieves" which was a romantic drama. Plus if you research the story you'll find that most bandits of that time were referred to as "Robin Hood" any way i'm looking forward to this movie, should be fan freakin tastic

This was by far the BEST Robinhood version I have ever seen. The story line was believable, giving the viewer some much needed character background. It grabbed my attention from beginning to end. Look for a friend of R. Crowes who is the lead singer for Great Big Sea.

Honestly, I want to see this movie. It's a bit like King Arthur. There's so many movies about King Arthur, but I liked the 2004 version as it was more "historical" than fantasy. The 1991 Robin Hood movie was...nice enough, but more "romantic" (Kevin Costner in the lead, voted sexiest man...).This version seems more about warfare. I also think that since the cast is older, it might give it a different feel. I love Orlando Bloom too, but enough with the period movies

Even though I know it's Robin Hood I keep confusing it with King Arthur ... but it looks great! Mature Robin Hood is a good way to go, I think. Fantastic cast.

YES! This movie is going too be amazing! When you team Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe together, a bad movie is not possible. This will be yet another monster hit to add to Crowe's already incredibly impressive resume. I can't wait.

I sort of collect Robin Hood adaptations. Curious about this one. It certainly seems like a mature, darker take on the tale. I think that is a good approach. It hasn't been done to this extent before. But I think the world is ready for it.

I most definitely agree about Alan Rickman, no one could replace him as the sheriff, but Russell Crowe will have to one hell of a job to fill Kevin Costner's shoes.
