I absolutely love my 1960 short scale u-1 it’s just a joy to play and I can’t get enough of it!
I tune mine a little different than most, I get the Billy Gibbons extra light 07 strings and tune to G like the Richards 5 string tuning but with the G on top: G D G B D G the light strings and short scale work to make the tension right. Great for roots, blues and slide. I have not picked up another guitar in ages. They make great “couch” guitars because they are hollow and project a little more than most electrics.

That was my first electric, Sear and Roebuck 34.50... canvas gig bag.After years of searching I finally scored a replacement, minimal fret wear, ALL original...clean, looks like it only saw 'cowboy chord' duty.. no neck/ fretwear above the 5th fret.
You are a damned good guitarist man, 'Misty' to the Stones..loved it!

I have an old danelectro u2 which I've just figured out was originally a u1 and someone put an extra lipstick in to make it a u2. It was done so well its hard to notice and It sounds great but the bridge pickup is way weaker than the neck pickup but that doesn't bother me too much

I made a deal with my dad when I was in the 8th grade. If I made the honor roll, he'd buy me an electric guitar. Yes, I made the honor roll and I got this guitar in black Silvertone from Sears and Roebuck $39.95. Sad to say it's long lost!! What a treasure that would be today!!

I just found one of these with the pick guard off, and someone lacquered the damn fretboard (and frets), the bastards. What are you playing through? There's so many tones, i'd really like to see what's in the signal chain. Thing sounds amazing in your hands, I'm wondering what the one I found is worth?
