About JamesandKarla:

Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.

In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.

We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. Our critically acclaimed books include “STORE FRONT: The Disappearing Face of New York”, “New York Nights”, “STORE FRONT II- A History Preserved” and “Broken Windows-Graffiti NYC”.

Come see the city & subscribe to our channel :)

Great video, as always!! I find it hysterical that the Salvation Army bell ringer was miming "I Want to Break Free", a song notorious for being banned on MTV because the members of Queen performed in drag. Salvation Army is one of the most anti-gay organizations around.

Lord & Taylor always had the BEST windows. They are greatly missed this year. Macy's and Bloomie's are just disasters, and Sak's is nothing more than an advertisement for the new Frozen movie (does Disney own Saks? LOL). By the way, does anyone else miss the Sak's snowflakes and think that the whole castle thing is a little TOO over the top? Also, how many people are gonna get sick from germs being spread by touching the dog's nose in the Macy's window? And SERIOUSLY? You had your dog LICKING the nose that other people, including MANY small children, are gonna touch?!?! Hand sanitizer, anyone? Thank goodness Tiffany's still does the traditional wrap around bow and, of course, the tree at Rock Center is ALWAYS spectacular and alone worth the trip into the city at the holidays. Thanks for the vid!

I have spend many decades enjoying the holiday windows of NYC. Unfortunately in the last few years, the windows have struck me as being less Christmasy or Holiday-ish and more like the hallucinations of a bad drug trip. That is the same impression that these windows give me. they are not beautiful or impressive----just garish, bizarre and confused.

Bloomingdale's window: the UGLIEST I've seen! It's to get us, Humans, used to robots and androids.
NO WAY!
