Uncommon and declining; this is what the Birds of Peru field guide says about this species. So, what was our surprise when driving out of Lima (only 2 hours or even less at about 3.500m) in our way to Central Peru, I saw first a pair soaring and then several others landing in what I suspect should be a very succesfull nest site or a big carrion found near the cliffs. There were, at least, 6 to 7 individuals around, including adult plumage, immature plumage and also juvenile plumage. The most active on flight were the juveniles, because did not spend much time on the same place where the adult plumage one were.

Every video you seem to be uploading right now makes me jealous! Let's hope they're on the up numbers-wise!
