HIDDEN GEMS IN THE COTSWOLDS | A WALK AROUND SHEEPSCOMBE VILLAGE, ENGLAND.

In today's video, we explore the delightful village of Sheepscombe, nestled in a tranquil, hidden valley near Stroud and Painswick. Often overlooked by tourists, Sheepscombe remains a peaceful and unspoiled gem in the Cotswolds, offering a truly authentic experience.

The village was first mentioned in 1260 and was originally a deer park and hunting ground. By the 17th century, the village was involved in the flourishing cloth-making industry, a common trade across many Cotswold villages and towns.

The Village Church of St John The Apostle, a significant feature of Sheepscombe, was built in 1820. It stands as a testament to the village's history and its enduring charm.

For a taste of local hospitality, Sheepscombe boasts a traditional pub, The Butcher's Arms, offering delicious food and local real ales.

A key highlight of the village is its cricket ground, famously mentioned by local author Laurie Lee in his classic novel *Cider With Rosie*. The Sheepscombe Village cricket ground is part of the village’s history and holds a special place in literary culture.

Join us as we discover the timeless beauty and heritage of Sheepscombe, a true hidden gem in the heart of the Cotswolds.

That was a wonderful walk! I think the views are actually better when the leaves have fallen😊. When you say its a cold day, how cold exactly? I'm from northeast US so what we view as ' cold' may be different.
