Secure Climate Spending in FY2024 Budget
How will the upheaval on Capitol Hill impact funding for climate solutions? We heard from Brett Hartl, Government Affairs Director at the Center for Biological Diversity on this vital question.
Accelerating the transition to clean energy, protecting communities from the worst impacts of the changing climate, and advancing environmental justice all depend on promised funding in the federal budget. A shutdown over the budget was averted, but soon Members of Congress will have to get back to work to meet the new deadline of November 17. Funding for bedrock environmental programs and measures included in the Inflation Reduction Act may not be secure as Members of Congress rush to agree on a budget.
We took action during the briefing by contacting Members of Congress about the urgency of maintaining climate funding in the FY2024 budget.
