DaVinci Resolve 16: Fusion Keyframe Editor Tutorial

In this tutorial we cover Fusions Keyframe Editor in detail.

Errata: 8:01 I talk about how the lock feature works. I was wrong. When 'Lock' is on (can't use button, but must use pop up menu as described in video) you cannot move individual keyframes as expected. You can however move all of them together regardless of if you are in lock mode or not as long as focus is set on the track in question.

9:22 - Snaping Keyframes and Guides
11:29 - Spreadsheet View

Great! No egotrippy intro, no rambling, just straight to business. It's very appreciated. Subscribed

I have been searching for and watching resolve / fusion videos for weeks - months even - and only just came across your channel. You have hands down absolutely the best, most detailed and clear videos out there. I really don’t understand why your channel isn’t showing up alongside others which are nowhere near as comprehensive and precise as yours. Thank you so much, please keep making them. On the project I am presently working on I have experienced a few, very specific issues that no one seemed to know the answer to, but you have made entire videos dedicated to specifically on these topics. I cannot express how appreciative I am. Great work sir!

I've been looking for the snap function for a while now. Not being able to move the keyframes by whole numbers gave me headaches. Thanks for the explanation, great tutorial

Thank you, great tutorial. I know it has been some time since posting, but I have a question. I'm using DaVinci + Fusion 19 Studio. I have a big composition and I created a Text+ filter like in this tutorial. But then, all the parameters (of the nodes) that I can keyframe are gone and I don't know how to display them in order to modify the keyframes. These parameters also seem to be gone in this video 4:36. Any ideas about how to display them when using a filter? Otherwise, this filter thing is not very useful. Thanks in advance for any answer.

Hi Darren, thanks for the video. Do you know how to copy and paste a set of keyframes? CTRL-C CTRL-V doesn't work (DaVinci 17).

You can say more about how to organize and see only the nodes that i have animated on the keyframe timeline? I'm transitioning from after effects, and doing pretty simple moGraph animations on Fusion, but is super hard to only see my keyframes i need to make selections all the time. We can make a filter to see only keyframed node?

When you create a filter and switch to it, why aren't the keyframes shown on the text object?
And also what I was missing is the ability to copy keyframes and move them so I could only key the start, duplicate the keyframes, move them to the end and invert the numbers.

Perhaps you can make a video about how to change the keyboard shortcuts in fusion? I know it is possible because i have heard other people talking about remapping Command+P to something more convenient for example, but it doesn’t seem possible in the keyboard remapping controls to even access, let alone change, fusion shortcuts… (if anyone else reading this knows how to do it, please feel free to reply! )

Great video. Any way to move the items around in the keyframes list? I had to figure out a work-around by renaming them alphabetically then sorting the list by name. Seems like you should be able to drag items higher or lower in the keyframes list.

Very nice, Darren, THANKS! However, even going full screen on my 27" monitor, all the tiny text (such as node labels, context menus, etc.) in your video is blurry and indistinguishable. DaVinci's low-contrast fonts make it worse. Perhaps in future vids you could zoom in on the area you're talking about so we could READ that text? Even so, this is just what I was looking for.

Enlightening and thorough, thanks. Have you ever compared the functionality of the KeyFrame Editor between the Fusion and Color pages?

How can we delete just one keyframe point, for example @13:08 to delete one of those one dot keyframe points? I know how to delete the entire animation comprising many points (by going, in the Inspector, and right click for shape animation, and click 'remove') but I wonder how to delete only one keyframe point? It might be worth having a very short tutorial just on how to delete keyframes. If you search youtube for - Davinci Resolve delete keyframe, there are no tutorials on this topic. It might be covered in other people's tutorials, but that piece of information is not easy for newbies to search for.
