I can't believe this car is essentially a decade old, the legendary Porsche 918 Spyder! All three of the hybrid hypercars that debuted from Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche are special in their own ways, with very different formulas and personalities. With the 918 Spyder, they combined a naturally aspirated flat plane crank V8 with the hybrid system and made this the only one of the three to be AWD. With the typical Porsche level of engineering, precision, quality and fantastic driving characteristics, the 918 Spyder definitely feels like a hypercar, but at the same time slightly less terrifying than something like the RWD McLaren P1. The design is cool but not that striking, rather reserved. The flat plane crank revs high but doesn’t really howl, very muffled. It’s crazy fast but that means not enjoyable on the streets with nowhere to enjoy the speed within limits. It seems like a very sterile car for 1M+… rather get a gt3rs that screams, v8 Ferrari that howls and a v10 for like 1/2 the price. This is for Porsche addicts to brag around as the flagship hyper car I supposed 🎉
