Alex, you need to be more assertive. As an engineering manager, your subordinates are an extension of you. So if you don’t like a conceptualization or implementation of an algorithm—you need to point it out, in Every instance, to get their thinking more inline with yours. This also takes the culpability off of your subordinates, making them more likely to comply with what you ask. Any indecisiveness or unnecessary added flexibility on your end will only muddle your efforts in the code review process. Subordinates—they are there to make your job easier. They are an extension of your mind. Otherwise, you would have to write these libraries yourself. …My 2 cents.
