Recently i bought an XDJ-XZ & a pair of XDJ-1000mk2 as a package. The combination works amazingly well. I felt that i was using a full 4 turntable 900 Nexus setup at a much reasonable price.

bit late and probably already mentioned:
they do have easy tension adjustment if u screw them open..
it's easy to do and you can get closer to the "heavy" settings, that alot of peeps prefer..
there's basically a wheel with tension ranges from -4 to +3 (loose -> heavy)
there are videos about it on yt

The one thing these are missing is the jog wheel tension adjust. I used CDJ 2000's for the first time last week and the tension adjust on them is amazing.

Thank you Mojaxx for being the only video I found on how to use the DDJ-SP1 in STANDALONE mode! I was on the fence about getting one, but I will be now! I too would like a physical button versus an on-screen one. I've subscribed as well. I'll look you up next time in London, first pint's on me!

Great review as always mate, but pioneer are taking the piss a bit now. I think over the next 5 to 10 years a brand will come a long offering good products with longevity and shelf life, over a minimal range...and that could the one thing that blows pioneer out of the water one day, cuz ppl are getting sick of all this now. Amazing products don't get me wrong but greed could eventually ruin their brand.

to be honest, is the engineering and features on these decks really worth £1200? Pioneer is amazing at what they do and they design and manufacture the best dj hardware on the market, period. The price of their hardware (e.g. CDJs, controllers, mixers) is maybe a tiny bit overpriced for what they do when the main functionallites of these bits of kit is mainly to play, pause, cue, loop and change tempo of a track.
Even though i believe the price of these pieces of hardware is a bit overpriced for what they deliver maybe its a good thing becaause by pricng these bits of hardware by rediculous amounts, not everyone would be a dj because at the end of the day the hardest thing about didgital djing today is saving up for the hardware to do it.

I'm really thinking about getting these. The only thing i don't like is that there is no LED ring around the jog wheel, like on the 2000, 2000 Nexus and 2000 Nexus2.

YES! I've been waiting for a real review of these! Nice so it it looks really good. One question. With the SP1 can you have all 8 hotcues (16 total, 8 each side, not 4 each side 8 total) active at once? I don't care about the other features on the pads...

Could you try and put Mk2 firmware on the Mk1's I got the Mk1's about this time last year and didn't get any software updates was quite annoyed considering the majority of these updates can be done over the software and as that is the case I am assuming that most of the new internal hardware components may be the same and the newer software with 8 cues would work on the older models.
