OFFICIAL GUIDE TO AVOIDING STORY QUEST SPOILERS IN MY VID:
The video will contain clips and allusions to Acts 3-4 in the archon quest and I'm afraid they are too consequential for you to enjoy the vid while skipping spoilers. I will not mark individual spoilers relating to the archon quest so DO NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SPOILERS FOR IT!!!

However, I will mark ALL SPOILERS of Neuvillette's and Wriothesley's story quests.

Major chunk explaining Neuvillette's story quest (both audio and video cannot be escaped): 14:03 - 18:00

Inconsequential scenes that can be taken out of context but still come from Neuvillette's story quest:
20:14 - 20:52
35:50 - 36:00
Random cutscene from Alhaitham's story quest (video only so you can listen to my voiceover vaguely discussing the quest without looking): 28:12 - 28:59

You will see dialogue spoilers on screen here but my voiceover will not give major spoilers. Still, if you want to be COMPLETELY safe, you may skip these parts. You may also opt to look away from the screen during this parts if you want to hear my voiceover while not seeing the quest dialogue.
Less safe voiceovers (may allude vaguely to story quest content):
20:52 - 21:11 (Neuvillette SQ)
23:07 - 23:38 (Neuvillette SQ)

More safe voiceovers (what I'm saying is entirely different but the best evidence is shown in the clips):
31:25 - 32:14 (Neuvillette SQ)
32:14 - 32:45 (Wriothesley SQ)
34:57 - 35:32 (Neuvillette SQ)
40:21 - 41:34 (Wriothesley SQ)
42:25 - 42:31 (Neuvillette SQ)

IF YOU FIND MORE, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS COMMENT!!!

As a sidenote, I mentioned that bit about fujoshis and their obsession with the male gender. I was more of talking about allegations against them (us) and I didn't have time to make that clear. This video is not meant to discuss the merits or problems of fujoshi culture, I was just talking about what people think.

Also, I did say that shipping is just an interpretation but I have heard that some ships have legitimate queer coding. Regarding that, I'm not an expert so I did not want to be the one to speak on it. Some other commentary channels or social media accounts might have better insight than me on that particular matter.

Thank you so much for watching!

The old argument that they're boring is so telling of how weird and awful peoples' socialization is these days. It's the Wattpadification of character dynamics 😂 I liked them early on as a potential duo BECAUSE they were warm and respectful toward one another - like, talking business before leisure is simply a mark of how dedicated they both are to the same goal (protecting Fontaine & its people) and that unlike couples that need drama to fuel ~passion~ they are able to compartmentalize their jobs or work harmoniously as needed. The fact that the functioning, positive, and mature qualities of the ship don't appeal to the folks that aren't looking for it or the ones that need a constant drip feed of shallow drama to spice things up really reveals a lot about the audience, and none of them good.

As a 30 yo tired adult I really appreciate ships that are far from drama and has very well stabilished and stable dynamics, it gives me a lot of comfort. Very nice video!

Very good analysis and explanation you did. 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻However there is missing in your video such as Neuvillette's voicelines about Wriothesley vice versa. Also another info from About Neuvillette I voiceline is that, he tends to avoid personal relationships or collaborating others. When it comes to Wriothesley, he contradicts it by saying he has a personal relationship with him twice and getting upset when Aife gives Wrio's resignation letter and says that he wants to meet him personally if he wants to end their collaboration.
This is the reason why I mainly ship Wriolette.
At first I was doubtful about this ship unless I witnessed how they interact in canon. I thought that they would be enemies or hate each other's guys.
It turns out to be the opposite. They respect and trust each other despite them being in difference between their standing in society. What I am amazed about is that Neuvillette is so open to Wriothesley to point out Wriothesley says that talking to him is effortless.
What seals the deal is Wriothesley's and Neuvillette's voicelines to each other. I was shocked when I read it and I found it sweet. The 10 tea's and Neuvillette's handmade stone slate was the last straw on making me like this ship even more.
But anyways I find your analysis interesting because what you say are facts and truth. No bias and very informative.

Avid shipper of these two and you did a fantastic job! I found myself nodding my head in agreement with every point you made. I especially loved how you touched upon the problem with misinformation (honestly part of that reason is also because of a good chunk of the fandom's infamous ability to miss things spoon fed to you by the game) as well as those who willingly ignore canon content because it doesn't cater towards their favorites lol

Also wholly agree with your point of it being OK to like "boring" ship dynamics and not everything has to be angsty 24/7 (although I completely understand the appeal of those things!) Thank you for your hard work in making such a lenghty video!

for me, i dont really need ~drama~ to fuel the tension since neuvi and wrio are already angsty for me with their own personal background and they are basically mortal x immortal ship. the art of shipping is the imagination and i see them having good chemistry so why not? however, indeed people are free to see them platonically or romantically as long as they dont spout misinformation like calling neuvi and wrio never interacted or saying neuvillette is wrio guardian just because they met once during wrio's trial while from wrio's chara story, we can see how he survived alone in the prison with his own wits. i think most shippers agree with me that we usually see their true relationship started when wrio took leadership of the fortress or when he was granted the title of the duke by neuvillette himself.

this is quite a ramble since im very much the target audience for this video and thank you so much for this one because it really explains what i like about them. also, kinda funny that the section "why some fans dont like it" is actually one of reasons why i like them. to be honest, i wasn't really a shipper in genshin fandom before and i've been playing for a while (aka since 1.0 patch lmao). but these two successfully grabbed my interest despite of me calling it "non-sense" during 4.0 patch. well, people change 😂

I'm not really interested in the ship (since I'm only interested in wlw pairings) but this video>>>>

The amount of times i have seen people go "they don't interact" "they're not that close" "they're only shipped because they're two tall men" "it's forced" and such even after the whole lantern rite cutscene (though 4.1 and Neuvillette's story quest are just right there too) makes my head ache even as someone who doesn't even ship them, I sometimes question if they don't actually read at all (yet have the nerve to say something, sorry if this sounds extremely mean) or are just lying because they just despise the ship

especially the "only because they're two tall men" i'd understand a bit if it was during pre-fontaine release to 4.0, i don't know if i will count 4.1 since it's where neuvillette admitted his personal relationship with wriothesley and FOR ME, that is probably enough reason to ship them, but i don't understand when people still say that after the lantern rite quest like that whole flashback scene of neuvillette giving wriothesley gifts proves their closeness, i stumble on some wriolette shippers(i do follow some because when i agree with someone's takes i immediately follow them and some happened to be wriolette fans or they're wriolette fans who somehow also ships a wlw pairing that i like) sometimes on my twitter/X, ranting about people saying they're not close which proves that there are indeed still people saying those things which is just.. I'm really convinced that they're just lying at this point.

This is why it's so strange to me. I understand only seeing them as friends, but saying they're not close is just straight-up a lie, and tbh, I was thinking if one of them were a woman. Would people deny their closeness? Would people still say that shipping them is forced? Let's focus on the shipping side since this is a shipping vid anyway. Whenever someone says it's forced, that question always pops up in my mind and it's not just this ship by the way but any w/w or m/m ship that does make sense to be shipped. If one were the opposite gender, would they say the same? I bet Wriothesly and Neuvillette's voicelines about each other and the "personal relationship" are what it would only take for those people.

sorry because this kinda came off as a rant. i'd understand if the ship does barely interact or not that close but this always happens to mlm and wlw ships that have lots of reasons to ship and it's extremely frustrating. I would understand seeing them as platonicbut i will never understand people saying it's forced and that it doesn't make sense (the fact that there's already someone calling it forced in the comments is kind of proving this video's point).

i feel like i would catch strays because of this, kinda scared Hahhaha.

After watching this video, I realized a very small fact that causes people to act out and say they barely have substance. I do think it all boils down to lack of "personal" interest in either of the characters to make sense of the coding. This causes them to ignore most of the interactions and the lore we got regarding the ship

Which is fine tbh, you can be disinterested in stuff but to make a misinformed argument over and over again like it is such an impossible ship is just boring

What about how Neuvillette used to feed Wriothesley when he was a homeless kid or how he kept tabs and spying on him when he was a juvenile criminal (meaning underage) growing up in the Fortress because he wanted to look after him? :')

If people wanna ship this more power to them, I guess...

Though I do find it strange that folk get more noticeably loud/mad over ships like Ayato x Miko but pass a blind eye to others like Wrio x Neuvillette...
At the end of the day one of the parties in either ship saw the other grow up to adulthood... Heck, Neuvillette was the one personally aiding Wriothesley over the parent homicide case of his
Also the horrible power imbalance with Wrio and Neuvillette's backstory context is icky to me

Honestly, these forced ships are getting on my nerves. I don't see a romantic relationship, but a deep, respectful and trusting friendship that continues to develop and will certainly offer us a lot more. Certainly lots of fun interactions too. Neuvi is just beginning to understand what friendship means. What being human means. He has certainly seen a lot of disgusting and abysmal things in 500 years. He's still like an innocent child in every way. But I think he's "growing up" now while he still sees the Melusines as his family. He slowly realizes that there is more. Namely, real friendship that brings added value to life.
He begins to understand feelings and emotions, including his own.
He expresses this not least to the traveler. Let's remember how happy he was that he was able to give us a water dragon soup ladle. He knew exactly that we would appreciate it because we know who he is. And the fact that he trusts us so much will certainly be very important for the further course of the story. So, I hope no one is mad at me when I say that people who only see gay material in all the characters are missing out on a lot of the depth of the story.

😘
