No. Doing Akira live action is pointless. Not only is the story too massive for a hollywood live action film. It'll loose Otomos amazing art style. This is pointless and won't happen. Also they'll make it pg-13 and remove all the interesting, symbolic/metaphorical aspects of the story just so they can make it appeal to a "wider audience" who won't get it anyway, therefore annoying the fan base and they'll end up with a film that appeases no one. Otomos anime film from the late 80's is the best your'e going to get anything else will automatically be lesser. And by that logic why bother?

Taikas line of work is mainly comedy akira is one of those movies you need a Denis Villeneuve or a james cameron for sure he is now shown to be able to tackle a big cgi filled mega blockbuster but akiras beauty is in its moments where you can just stop and stare at the visuals
