Cote Divoire is a very bad country with bad people. I took Ethiopian airline from New Jersey via Abidjan to Accra Ghana. I got delayed in Abidjan because my Ghana visa has expired. They have an operation at the airport where they channel foreigners to certain expensive hotel cartels who work with the airport. That was one of the most expensive hotel I ever stayed in Africa.
The next day I got my Ghanaian visa renewed and on my way to board the airline, there was an immigration officer specifically placed in the hallway asking for people’s passport. Immediately he realized I’m an American, he told me I cannot travel out of Cote Divoire with CFA Franc. He ended up taking all the CFA on me, totaling $2000. I only got to Accra and I realized that it was fake and that immigration officer is a thief. This was my experience in Cote Divoire. Daylight robbery.
