Lacey, I am so glad that I discovered your channel. I'm 67 and I was an avid LITB fan as a child and now that I'm retired, we watch the show every morning at 8am on one of the nostalgia channels. During this time of turmoil, it calms me and, like yourself, I've become fascinated with the show from a sociological standpoint as well as entertainment. I grew up in a very urban environment and we were poor, however, my mother kept our home clean, she found a way to always look her best and she was loving and loyal to our father. We also had to have good table manners; after a hard day working in construction, my father had zero patience for arguing at the dinner table.
There was a very touching scene in season 1 when Beaver is overwhelmed with making his rounds with his paper route. June walks into the garage, gets down and helps his fold his papers. Beaver is so touched to see his mom and he compliments her on her skills. He learns that she does more than cook and clean.
No, we didn't have a house like the Cleavers, but my parents created a home and family life. Today, young couples think "stuff" is the criteria for.a home. Maybe they should watch Leave It To Beaver.

Bang up job on this one, Lacey. June Cleaver was a stone cold babe. Any money spent on clothes—totally worth it! Seriously, I grew up in that time. People dressed up more back then. Most wouldn’t think of going to town looking like a slob. Even working class people made their best effort.

You know what my FAVORITE thing of June is? Her face could say it all…. She had attitude and I was there for every minute of it! Haha! My all time favorite character and an admirations to strive for for sure! I wanted to see this whole interview, but cannot find it anyways.

It's hard for me to watch this, I cannot stand these arrogant tv hosts. Parkinson and Mike Douglas were another scumbags. Johnny Carson was probably the only great one, I wish he had interviewed Barbara.

DYK that the first time part of a toilet was shown in a TV series was in the pilot episode? Wally & Beaver hide a mail order alligator in the toilet's tank.

Even then, the family was under attack. There is nothing wrong with an example of parental patience and gentle guidance. Your mom wasn't like that> Maybe you were far worse than Beaver.

I had two sons too!😃 I love the fight scene where she had to break it up. Been there done that. lol Countless times I made my boys write sentences as a punishment. LOL I can't stand these tv people who are so insulting to happy families with stay at home moms. Brings back memories of all the times people looked at me like I had 3 heads when they found out I don't have my own career and instead help my husband run his business. People would ask me if my husband died, where would I go, what would I do? 🙄 Then at a more liberal church, the stay at home moms seemed so unhappy. I was the weird one for enjoying my traditional role. However I felt so much more comfortable at our more traditional church and also in the Cub Scout den with moms who were happy to be with their boys and excited to help them with Cub Scout adventures. Now people look at me like I have 3 heads when they ask am I still homeschooling the boys now that they are teenagers? I say of course. They say aren't you going to send them to a real school during high school?🙄
