Stinging Nettle - Urtica dioica

Stinging nettle is a wild edible and medicinal plant that a lot of people are very interested to forage for and use. Personally I'm pretty stoked about this plant! Stinging nettle is a wild edible plant that is very nutritious and it is also a wild medicinal plant that is used to treat a lot of ailments. I had just finished harvesting some stinging nettle, and I thought I would show how we like to try stinging nettle before storing it. It's really easy to dry stinging nettle! I just wash it, pat it dry with a towe, and then put it in a paper bago to dry on the counter. You just have to move it around a few times to make sure it dries thoughout, but that's it! Once the stinging nettle is all dry, we just store it in mason jars.

I forage stinging nettle, I dry them and keep them in jars for meals (like soups or rice) and tea. It's delicious. In my country it's very common and commonly used. There are tons of recipes with it.

Do they still sting when dried? I am lucky to have this “weed” come up in my planter boxes, so I’m going to harvest it.
