Renowned truck journalist Brian Weatherley puts a Volvo F16 470 from 1987 head-to-head with the new Volvo FH16 750, in a haulage challenge up one of Sweden's toughest ascents - the so called Gothenburg hill located just outside Jönköping, Sweden - just to find out what has really changed in 25 years.

I recently got to drive that hill, with a 660 FH16, loaded 65 tonnes, and i have to admit (Being a Scania-fan) it's and incredible engine, you have done a very good job Volvo!

when you are just a 21 year old, and feel so amazed that you want to try a FH16 once for yourself, eventhough you never driven a truck before.

My father is lorry driver, and he always says: -Volvo is the best and most quality, safety truck in the world. We will buy a new Volvo FH series and we will work together. It's the best investment for future. Thank you Volvo.

I’m pretty sure that not every modern 470hp nowadays can keep up with these F16…or 143 470, despite of having “only” 2000Nm…

I wish we had these volvos in the states. No one makes a good cabover here anymore.

I think you can not compare 30 years old truck with 400hp with new modern version with 750hp. But it is too beautiful to see sweden classics.

Here in USA only sells the Volvo 780 which is the best in the USA

the average European trucks are actually heavier than the average US ones, they run at 40 metric tons or about 88, 000 lbs, while the average US truck runs at 80.000 pounds
