This @Forbes article discusses a strange incident last week involving @OpenAI #chatbot #chatgpt initiating chats with users
#ai normally waits for a user's input, but in these cases users uploaded a screenshot showing how #gpt started the conversation, which led them to suspect that maybe the #ai had reached #sentience.
The truth is waaaay less sexy. It's either a #tech issue with sessions not closing properly for some users, OR a trial balloon by #openai to see how users will react.
One thing is for sure - we have not reached the #singularity just yet... or have we?!
