It's not right to think Newton "Discovered" gravity, or even create the term. He's simply the one that society assigned as the discoverer. Fun fact, Walter Charleton made a book called "Physiologia which mentions gravity and it's effects around the time Newton was 12 years old. Additionally, an Indian astronomer named Brahmagupta made a book named Brahmasphutasiddhanta in the year 628 (7th century, almost a 1000 years before Newton), talked about gravity: "A body falls towards the Earth as it is the nature of the Earth to attract bodies just as it in the nature of the water to flow." (English translation).
