The link and story method are two memory techniques that can work very well.

Whether you want to become a brain athlete or just improve your memory for everyday things, linking is a great skill to learn...

... and then amplify. That's what you'll learn to do today, specially by applying the Memory Palace technique, also known as the method of loci.

As for the story method, my best memory tips will show that it's not so different from using memory links.

At the end of the day, your use of memory techniques is only so good as your knowledge and practice, so make sure to follow-up with these additional resources next:

You are the best sir, You deserve to be told that while you are still alive. You have given me an idea that will change my life. I appreciate you

I use this link method to memorize 2-4 words to learn languages. I turn the sounds of the word I wanna learn into words that I already know and connect them to the meaning. So when I hear the sound I remember that image that links to meaning. I think this technique is perfect for this. For example, car in russian is "mashina", I could imagine a machine doing something to a car, so how machine sounds remembers me "mashina"

Great description of the story and linking methods short comings, I can attest to them. I've found that, for me, only 3 to 5 pieces of information per magnetic station are ideal: when linking more, they work great when training fresh but half of the information fades in time

Another great video. :)
I'm thinking the story might be best for small groups of related definitions.
For example I have an upcoming insurance exam where I have to memorize 6 types of buildings and their basic materials (wood, mason) and fire resistance rate and another 9 or so types of fire sprinkler detection systems.
Having 2 mini "stories" within the memory palace room such as picture representing a station in the corner, is probably quicker and more realistic to memorize and recall for an exam as opposed to 1 giant story encompassing 10 individual chapters.

Good evening Anthony, hope all is well there in Brisbane. I had to laugh when you used the analogy about teaching a man to fish as I was thinking the very same thing. The memory palace seems so simple to create on paper but I have a hard time using my imagination with it, that's why I like the story method best.

Yep! So true learning a shopping list or to-do list in another language is double up !!! I'm still attempting to learn Russian....so I learn how to say: I need to wash the dishes, then I'm going to iron a also those little conjunction words. At the same time, I'm learning how to form sentences, different tenses and what it is I need to do ...all in one go !
True, I could do it a lot quicker by just writing a list, but hey....where's the fun in that ?
Very very good advice Anthony!
Thanks a million, as always
