The only acceptable candidates are:

1. Penny Mordaunt (sound)
2. Suella Braverman (sound)
3. Kemi Badenoch (sound)

Moderately acceptable:

4. Liz Truss (have doubts)

Completely unacceptable:

5. Rishi Sunak (backstabber completely untrustworthy)
6. Jeremy Hunt (completely untrustworthy)
7. Tom Tugendhat (wife works for Macron)
8. Nadhim Zahawi (backstabber)

We need to know their stances on NET ZERO.

With this latter unacceptable list REFORM UK is the only option.

I know you probably don’t want a yankee opinion here but… a real handicap is that the conservatives can’t chart a clear position on any of the three things that dominate the Everymans concerns.

First the absolute devastation that Covid policy was and thus the cost of living crisis. Tories own this and they seem to genuinely believe that they did nothing wrong.

Second, the UK taking a role in the Ukraine/Russia affair that made no sense and probably resulted in more Ukrainian suffering than was otherwise likely. The fact that the Ruble is at pre-war highs and the 💷 is having a very bad time is directly related to a very unrealistic foreign policy and is dramatically exacerbating the cost of living crisis. There seems to be almost no concerns about the negative impact of this.

Third, a big chunk of the party seems to be committed to wokism. This one could be partially addressed if someone like Kemi thumps one of the squishes in the party election.

But on the economic and foreign policy front I don’t see much to be encouraged by.
