The Fate of Monarchia | A Warhammer 40k Comic Dub

Monarchia was the spiritual capital of the Word Bearers, built to honor the Emperor as a god. The Emperor, rejecting this worship, ordered the Ultramarines to destroy the city as a punishment for the Word Bearers' religious zeal. Lorgar, their Primarch, was forced to witness its destruction, which deeply humiliated him. This event led to Lorgar’s disillusionment with the Emperor and set him on a path to embrace the Chaos Gods, playing a crucial role in the lead-up to the Horus Heresy.

The Mechanicus: You are our god!

The Emperor: Sure.

Monarchia: You are our god!

The Emperor: Destroy them.

And in an alternate universe, Guilliman realized that ruling the entire galaxy from Terra would be an exercise in futility. And so he devised a plan that would see the Imperium divided into nineteen dominans, with the Emperor ruling directly over the heart of the Imperium while the other eighteen would each be ruled by one of his sons in his name. And so, as a proof of concept, Gulliman began the process of severing his homerealm of Ultramar from the wider Imperium under the code name of... Imperium Secundus. But this act, carried out with the noblest of intentions, was seen as nothing less than base treachery. And thus began the burning of Macragg, carried out by the Emperor's most zealous servants. The Word Bearers.

Some call lorgar a fool, for believing his father, "god." But did the chaotic 4 not refer to him as their conceptual antithesis? Was *the Anathema* as a title not on the nose enough? Was the emperor literally speaking to 20 abstract concepts personally and making them his OWN children, not proof enough he is and always was an idea? A god? If the emperor's avatar does have a true name, it wasn't his first name. The first name he was given.... Was *order.*

I like that the Emperor sent Gulliman to raze Monarchia, he could have sent the world eaters who would have done it with glee or the dark angels and space wolves who would have felt nothing but the burden and pride of loyalty while the world burned, but the Ultra marines would burn the world but feel nothing but sadness and regret

In a way this just reminds me how much guilliman was Disturbed and disappointed of the burning of monarquia the emperor's orders were the emperor's orders and he did agree that things like religion had no place in the future they were trying to forge for Humanity but deep down inside guilliman was appalled of what him and his Legion had to do and thought the emperor's decision was an overreaction

He wanted to express that the lorgar in gilliman thought he had that opportunity when the word bearers arrive at calf but unfortunately as we all know it didn't quite go that way

Well, that sure was an overkill.... All you needed to do was simple telling them to stop that shit at once would have suffice.

I never wanted to burn Monarchia. But orders are orders. Good soldiers follow orders.

If only the Emperor immediately decreed the Edict of Obliteration the second he learned of Lorgar’s worship of the Emperor

The Irony in it was Lorgar was right. The only problem was that he was behind on his conquest quota.

Remember that The Ultramarines were told to evacuate the people. The ones who died refused to listen to them or openly fought back.

I remember hearing about this from Arch for the first time, and knowing what I know now about the Ultramarines, I agree with his assessment: it makes no sense that they handled the destruction of Monarchia in such a manner, given Gulliman himself trained them to be administers and diplomats.

Consider: like it or not, the people in the city you are going to destroy literally look at you and your brothers as the sons of the personage they worship. Unless Lorgar snuck in some real bad snark towards his brothers when no one was looking, they're going to listen to you, especially if you tell them the one they've been worshiping is about to show up and in order to prepare, they need to evacuate the city in an orderly manner.

As a devoted Christian, I love Warhammer 40k and I love Space Marines aswell as the imperium despite it being a hell whole as it is now, however, I've noticed that there are a lot of people in this comment section who just hate religion, im not here to debate philosophy and theology, thats your belief and that fine, but when you do this your being kind of toxic to religous people who just want to enjoy this universe, Henry Cavil is a devout Catholic and everybody loves him, how about we just unite with eachother in enjoying this universe that we so greatly love with all our beleifs, something The Emperor couldn't even have done. We are human, we aren't perfect and if we try to pry someone on your side with anger and hatred then your no better than the stuborn person with the belief you dislike, Athiest/Christian, yes the writers with GW back in the day were edgy, but at the end if the day WHO CARES this story is fiction, FICTION. I just want to enjoy Warhammer 40k, not feel unwanted for having beliefs that don't aline with anyone else, and I certainly don't ever want to feel someone else to feel that either around me. We are all human I love everybody, hate for beliefs is just sad, we are a fandom, we should be freinds, not foes :)

And once again the emperor proved himself to be a colossal moron and an improvement over the tyrants of old night in name only.

Malchador: "Okay Emperor, we gotta stop this religious cult being spread by Lorgar. So who do we send to do the job? Your Executioner? Your Judge? Maybe your favored son?"
Emperor: "Send my logician King Blueberry!"
