The deep irony of a CPU being called Ice Lake and running at those temps is hopefully not lost on Intel.

Looking back on the Intel Macs just makes me happier about how much M1 has changed things. I can actually buy a MacBook Air and have more than enough power for my needs. Had I gone for an Intel MacBook I would have had to spend hundreds more on a 13” Pro base model.

Why cannot it be a machine for DJs, musicians and Photoshop users? Seems to be quite well optimized for those use cases. Especially for people running software like Logic Pro that saves them a ton of money over time in comparison to subscription based apps. Some moderate video editing and especially stuff like programming also seem to work well. And while Linus might not be in love with the temperature (neither am I btw) he has shown neither thermal throttling nor has he tested the temperature in actual work apps, something like XCode and Final Cut Pro X (because according to YouTubers video editing is the only „Pro“ workflow). I am not in love with any laptops (Intel is largely at fault for that) currently to be honest. And the design language and the thermal architecture inside those MacBooks are breathing their last breaths before a significant shift to ARM processors. But if you actually need a MBP and you need it in a smaller package than the 16 inch those are far better than before thanks to the new keyboard and the 1799$ model having both more storage and more and faster RAM, in addition to everything else.
