Tetley Tea - Lovely Day (Advert Jury)

Upon hearing the sad news that American soul singer, Bill Harrison Withers, Jr passed away, I decided to return to the advert, which served as my introduction to the singer.


I remember seeing this lovely advert for Tetley's Tea Bags in 1997 and never forgot how much I enjoyed the hearing the song 'Lovely Day' playing in the background. The song works beautifully in tandem with the animation, and this advert remains as one of my personal favourites of all time!

First time I ever heard Lovely Day, therefore always think of this old Tetley advert whenever I hear the song.

When Maurice woke up, he had a pencil on his right ear, and when he came downstairs, the pencil was on his left ear, and then back to his right, and when he left home back to his left again.
Every time I hear this song, I think of this advert and my wonderful time in England 25 years ago. I miss England!

Every time I hear that song I immediately think uv this ad n I can still remember it from the 90s.

I also noticed he has cups and teapots on his duvet.

I never noticed this but Maurice has a pencil over his ear from the beginning, so he sleeps with a pencil over his ear? How did it stay over his ear espiecially when he covered up his head with the duvet?

I liked this advert and indeed all the Tetley ads with the "Tea Folk." They were a bit strange though - all they seemed to do was sit around drinking cups of tea all day!

This song got used on other adverts such as The Ford Escort when at the end it showed the driver going for a leisurely ride in the country hill top.
