I STILL have this card in my secondary rig at work. And it can still handle new games. This card was and is an absolute BEAST.

Really liked the on screen "annotating" made it seem really professional in my opinion.

I SO loved how you put a close-up of the graphs so that we can see the FPS better. Mejor thanks! :-D

They are transistors/switches that alternates sending the power from the PSU to the GPU/CPU, so its supposedly provide "cleaner" power by reducing heat and voltage drops/spikes.

Depends up the type of card. Not size. The extra slot here provides additional cooling allowing you to overclock it further.

If you exchange the air cooling for water blocks the card will take 2 slots at most. This means you can saw-off the exhaust grill area off of the card.

Just had this card for a couple days... Almost doubles my fps and benchmark scores without overclocking. At 1100Mhz and especially the 6600Mhz VRAM speeds, what's not to love. The GTX680 was a true contender but with Adobe utilizing the 7970 GPU's, it was an obvious choice for my needs.

(from amd's website) 500W (or greater) power supply with one 150W 8-pin PCI Express power connector and one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended. You could add a few watts since the Asus is overclocked.

I had two of these bad boys at one point, they were so thick I had to take the powersupply out just to fit both of them in. It was a Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 too so not a small case.

GTX680's are voltagelocked nowadays.
Go with the Matrix, massive factory OC, and it has giant headroom for further overcloaking :)

Am sure someone mentioned this already but.. I have watched few of your new videos and they seem to have colors off. Not realistic skin and seems a bit blurry. Can this be HDMI capture card? I assume the camera of this grade should do some decent color correction onboard. Have you tried doing the encoding via camera instead of HDMI? Youtube only supports I think 12Mbps tops anyway.

A reference card, or even something with a decent cooler. But these cards have crazy power delivery, for overclocking. You don't really need that for normal gameplay.

Go for the 7950. I was in the same boat just a little while ago. The 660Ti is undoubtably a good card but the 7950 beats it in almost every category. The only situation that I would recommend getting the 660Ti over the 7950 is if you plan on playing a lot of Battlefield. Nvidia cards are just plain better at running Battlefield games. Even then the 7950 can perform quite well on Battlefield. Either way you’re getting a good card.

One more thing, if you plan on overclocking go for the 7950.

690 is dual 680s. 7970 beats out a 680, but you want to go for a GHz edition. Modifying a voltage allows higher core clocks when overclocking, for better performance. Research into each manufacturer and choose the one who provides what you need. Usually one card is better than another, but whatever

It doesn't matter how high-end a motherboard is, the fact of the matter is that boards that support 3 or 4-way Crossfire/SLI can only support that many cards with 2-slot cards. ATX, EATX, and XL-ATX can only support up to 7 PCIe slots, which means that for 4-way Crossfire/SLI you'd need to occupy PCIE1, PCIE3, PCIE5, and PCIE7. Adding a 3-wide card would block the next slot, so there is no way you can do a 4-way Crossfire with a 3-wide card.
