I think that performers can develop a prickly and protective carapace when they have been subjected to enough shit for long enough that they can't take it any more. The whole entertainment industry is notorious for exploiting those who are desperate to find success. You can see it in those who gradually go dead behind the eyes as they endure any amount of exploitation to get on. Ryan Reynolds has said he would never allow their kids to become part of it and as part of the Mickey Mouse club he must have seen and heard about some awful stuff (witness the breakdown of Britney Spears, his contemporary...). It is hard for performers to take a stand when everyone else has decided they will just swallow the crap in order to get on but it is the only way anything ever changes, for the better...Those taking a pop at her need to get their grown-ups pants on and join with Abigail Breslin in supporting Blake Lively and those willing to say "No more".
