In 2017, Bret Weinstein was thrust into the public limelight, when he objected to a change in the college's tradition of observing a "Day of Absence". Bret stating that "there is a huge difference between a group or coalition deciding to voluntarily absent themselves from a shared space in order to highlight their vital and under-appreciated roles, and a group or coalition encouraging another group to go away." It led to widespread protests and claims that Bret was "a racist" and the college was forced to close for two days.

Following the Evergreen College protests, Bret outlined the threat of behaviour like this spilling over into the outside world. His concerns were proven correct after the death of George Floyd.

In the days following Floyd's death, people took to the streets across the US and then across the world. What originated as a Black Lives Matter movement, quickly became infiltrated by far-left groups.

Its something to consider but my question is how does this end party's which should be the real goal. And who are the two people who have agreed to run on this experiment. Cant support it with out knowing that.

I like Bret a lot. He has totally failed to address two major failures--the failure of journalism and the failure of academia. Without fixing these two things, any reform of the electoral process is impossible.

I could get down with this Unity idea. The two candidates could literally be a donkey and an elephant and id still vote for them over the two clowns up for election.

Would anybody be interested in setting up a similar thing in the UK? It would need a different model because the political system is different, but we would have more time to get organised. I am on the left, but have libertarian sympathies. My non negotiables would be a newly modelled economy, a negotiated baseline level for poverty, all media owners must be UK tax payers and an end to corporate personhood. Please reply if interested.

Bret talks about the 'best policies for the American people.' What American people Bret, is it the Whites, the Blacks, the native Americans, the young people, the boomers, the middle class, the poor etc? Policy is about trade offs, taking from 1 group and giving to another. There is no best policies for the American people.
