Atari Flashback Portable (2019 Dollar General)

Found a Dollar General version of the 2019 Atari Flashback Portable! Got it for less than what it went for on Black Friday 2019 to boot! The only difference I can tell between this one and the non Dollar General 2019 portable is having a wood grain appearance. Plays really well, sound is a little meh, screen is good but they keep putting paddle games on these with no dial or paddle! RATS!!!! I had playing kaboom with a dpad :P (Note the AV Cable has a 1/8" plug on it, I was nailed by the Internet Police :P)

I love this My wife bought this for me for Valentine's day this year and Ive already put in alot of time on it. I havent hooked it up to the tv yet, but i am satisfied with it so far

I saw this thing and snagged it up immediately. I never been so excited to buy a game from the Dollar General.

I like that wood grain. The SD card feature is really nice, too.

I have the first model(I believe). I like it but my biggest reason for grabbing it was that SD card reader. Being able to load a bunch of 2600 ROM's onto an SD card and then into a portable I could carry around was really cool. Being able to then connect it to a TV made it even cooler. And I totally agree on the lack of paddle function. I do love the wood grain on this model. Maybe I'll have to look for one to add to my collection.

I just picked this up today at Dollar General and was playing it on my break. I didn't even notice it had an SD card slot until I opened it. I'm currious to know if anyone's jail broken this to play emulators like for NES/SNES/Genesis. But this makes the this the 5th AtGames console I've bought.

Good video! I got the 70 game version of the Atari portable late last year. Cool little system. I wouldn't mind finding one of this one, that you just showed on here. Neat!

Beamrider RULES! I didnt realize they added features to these. Mine was from the first year. Dollar General? Ok, I will seek out a location and see if I cant find one. Holding out for the wood grain for my replacement. Thanks bud.

I still have the first version. I think I paid $30 using a $10 discount coupon at Bed Bath & Beyond. I dont see anything new to convince me to buy another one right now. I would love to see a paddle dial and a HDMI output would be nice too. And I wish they'd upgrade the firmware to run Stella so it could play the new Atariage games.

The sd card is a pretty neat feature just in case you aren’t happy with the builtin games, then you can just put in your own atari 2600 games on it, i wish those flashback systems did had an sd card slot as well.

I have to say that one looks really cool with that woodgrain. While I have a couple of AtGames consoles (Atari Flashback 5 and Colecovision Flashback (Dollar General variant with Antarctic Adventure)), the only portable I have is a Genesis Flashback I found at a local thrift a few years ago. It plays nice and has the SD slot to load more games onto it. I use it for the games AtGames "forgot" to include on the device :) Nice video, as usual!

I have the black version which commemorated the Atari 2600's 40th anniversary with 70 built-in games. I purchased it on eBay for my birthday back in 2018. What I find aggravating about this is that the D-Pad is kind of stiff to move around, there's no paddle type options like you've mentioned and this thing will glitch up while I have the USB charger plugged into my tablet and I'm playing a game. This thing did not come with instructions, so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or I got ripped off on a defective AtGames Atari Flashback Portable. I do like the woodgrain model, but I can't see myself wasting money on something that will last me a month.

Won't lie I love the look of this version but would really like to see someone mod it to have the cartridge slot and make it a proper portable like people do with the home flashback consoles

Wow..save state and rewind?!?! Man..this could have been the unit I seen at Dollar General on black friday sale for around $20-$25!!! Wish I would have picked up then. 🙄
