Veiled Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus dryinus & levis)

Very quick overview of the most distinctive wild oyster mushroom I know of. These have no dangerous look alikes and they're a great mushroom for practicing your identification skills.

The most important things to know here are that they have a visible ring around the stem, a stem that's tough as nails, and a rough textured cap. All look alikes are edible. For eating, I only really pay attention to these if I come across them in the fall since the fungal knat larvae are usually dormant then. Picked when it's warm outside they're usually buggy.

I have found these and they smelled lemony to me. You did not mention that so I am wondering if it was the same mushroom?
