Bartel amps are the product of extensive research and an uncompromising devotion to innovation and craftsmanship in pursuit of a bold new voice in guitar amplification. It's a voice rooted in sonic purity and rendered with a vibrant, deeply resonant, and totally unconstricted sound - like an acoustic instrument. Every note is round and full, with intense clarity and vivid dynamics.

Mark Bartel builds every amplifier himself at his Baltimore craft shop, working to the absolute highest standards of craftsmanship. Mr. Bartel crafts the cabinetry himself from fine solid woods, assemble and wire all of the electronics on handmade turret boards, and even fabricate many custom parts such as knobs and other appointments.

The Signature Series consists of three models: the 12W Sugarland, the 28W Starwood, and the 45W Roseland. These three models are very different from the designs Mark has done in the past and are loaded with innovation, artistry, and craftsmanship for a uniquely pure, natural, and resonant sound.

In this video, Ray Kainz demonstrates the the 28 watt Starwood and the 45 watt Roseland models. Ray uses a Retrospec guitar made by Tom Bartlett and has ThroBak SLE-101 MXV pickups.

Ray goes back and forth between the Starwood and the Roseland. The name of whichever amp is being played will be displayed in the lower left corner of the screen. All specifications displayed apply to both models except for wattage rating.

I got to say I'm really pleased to see someone actually paying attention to cabinet design. After years in the field of acoustics I can appreciate a great cabinet and it makes a BIG difference

I own a Starwood and have gradually liquidated my vintage Fender amp collection because the Bartel just always sounds better with any guitar. I scratch my head when somebody with a room full of amplifiers and a fortune in pedals says $4000.00 for a Bartel is too much money. Get rid of that junk and buy the Bartel and you’ll be doing yourself a huge favor. From my guitar room to stage the Starwood always sounds terrific, and is a knob twist to another personality. At around 40 pounds it’s reasonable to lug around. No fork lift required. After 2 years of ownership I still marvel what a wonderful thing it is.

I have my Starwood since two years now and I still love it so much that I never ever since then had the desire to try another amp. For me it is absolutely perfect. It is so versatile. Combined with a good overdrive pedal you can get every sound you want. Every time I think I found the "perfect" sound I twist the two tone knobs a little and suddenly I have a new "perfect" sound. What I love too it that is also sounds great at low volumes as I most of the time play at home. That master know is pure genius. Yes, it is expensive but if you consider the love and attention to detail that went into this amp (just look at the images on the Bartel homepage) it is a bargain really. I don't think I will ever part from this amp. I will probably buy a second one at one point to play stereo.

Sounds great! Browsing the Bartel website will show the incredible level of detail that goes in to these amps. It's astounding!

For what it’s worth, I have owned a Starwood for about a year and a half, and it’s the berries.

I would lean towards the Roseland for the bigger sound and more low end but they both sound awesome

I’ll be one to admit a good amp is better than a good guitar. I have a Benson and ANYTHING sounds killer out of it. I do dream of a bartel though especially after having once owned his tone king imperial amp

Now if I can find 8/10 thousand dollars, I'm gonna get me one. Fantastic amps.

This is a great demo, thanks for posting it! I am trying to decide between the Starwood (28w) or the Roseland (45w). Is there any major difference 'tone-wise' between these two models or is it simply a matter of volume and overhead? The Starwood would be enough wattage for me, but I was wondering if the Roseland had more gain or a different tonal character? Thanks!

How come you guys stopped carrying this line?

I was wondering about the first sounds you play with the Starwood?  The video shows treble and Bass both at 0. Is that where you had it set?  Thank you!!

Certainly sounds promising... I just wonder how you would be able to quickly jump from clean to plexi crunch live, etc.

Bartel is pronounced bar-TEL. Accent on the second syllable.

I am willing to bet it was recorded with the camera mic. You have a mic literally sitting in front of the amp. Why not use it? I don't understand why all these "pro" shops do demo's of absolutely Killer equipment and then record them with a camera mic. Sorry but it sounds like crap. I would give no more than I would a Blue's JR based off of that clip. Don't get me wrong, JR's are cool and all but you can get them for 500 bucks and that's a 4000+ dollar amp. I I can assure you if you were sitting in the room with it you would know its worth every freakin cent and more. This "recording" doesn't even come remotely close to what the amp sounds like and is a complete injustice to one of the finest amps ever built.
