Just ordered one from Amazon. Can't wait to get it. I have never used a ham radio, but seeing the state of the world, I had better get started formularizing myself with one. Do you have any suggestions that could help me set it up and learn all it's features quickly?

I have one, it works great but I'm big time disipointed there's no battery elimater or aa tray for it!

It seems like sometimes the back light does not come on when receiving a transmission. Shouldn’t it always come on or is there a setting that controls that I’m overlooking?

I have this radio, and its OK. The only thing I like about it is the weather feature.I even put a better antenna on it, and people had trouble hearing me.I have a Wouxun, and I like that better.

Excellent radio, but I can't forgive that it doesn't have a ctcss or dcs scanner.

best! heck no, best cost at least a few hundred dollars more, but very good for this price point, and unlike some fang radios it is FCC compliant, see Oct 2017 QST review
