Drying a fresh cut wood vase with Kitty Litter? Absolutely, 100% effective and we have the test results to prove it! After finding a free tree stump by the side of the road, (No it's not the beginning of a bad joke), I turned a pretty wet and green chunk of that stump into a rough vase blank, ready for kiln drying. Once I found out that some kitty litter brands make their material completely out of silica gel, I had to give this natural desiccant a try as part of a small dehumidifying kiln; specifically inside a 5 gallon bucket. As weird as it sounds, it worked pretty great. See our week to week drying results as we measure total weight and moisture content over 50 days.
