AELLA CHOIR: Tell My Ma arr. Ann Devine

Показать описание
Aella Choir performs "Tell My Ma," a UK folksong arranged by Ann Devine. The performance was recorded live at Aella's Kitchen Party fundraiser on November 19, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Aella, along with amazing fiddlers Doug Dorward and Emilia Bartellas, hosted a (sold out) evening of great tunes, good food and fine company at OzKafe in the Byward Market. The evening saw three 3 sets of singing and fiddling, which featured traditional East Coast folk songs, Irish airs and reels, and tunes composed by both Canadians and our friends from across the pond. Attendees were treated to amazing OzKafe canapés, and we all made great friends with our bartender, John, who provided an immense selection of local craft beers and spirits throughout the evening.
LYRICS
Tell my ma when I go home
The boys won't leave the girls alone
They pull my hair and they stole my comb
But that's all right till I go home
She is handsome, she is pretty
She is the belle of Belfast city
She is courting one two three
Please won’t you tell me who is she
Albert Mooney says he loves her
All the boys are fighting for her
Knock on the door and they ring the bell
“Oh my true love, are you well”
Here she comes as white as snow
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes
Old Johnny Murray he says she’ll die
If she doesn't get the fella with the roving eye
Tell my ma ...
Let the wind and the rain and the hail blow high
An the snow come a-tumbling from the sky
She's as nice as apple pie
She'll get her own boy by and by
When she gets a lad of her own
She won't tell her ma till she comes home
Let the boys say as they will
For it's Albert Mooney she loves still
Tell my ma ...
