Taiwan, US to 'bolster military exchanges' amid tensions with China | DW News

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-Wen has said Taipei will boost 'military exchanges' with the United States, at a time when tensions with Beijing remain high.
The cooperation with the US has picked up pace especially since the start of the Ukraine War and renewed concerns over the threat of an invasion from China.

Taiwan has tried very hard to negotiate with Beijing. And all it has received is Wolf Warrior diplomacy, threats, and extortions. The final straw was its treatment of the Hong Kongers. They were happily on their way toward reunification until Xi started abusing the people of Hong Kong. It is remarkable to me how so many Chinese still cannot see how incompetent Xi Jinping is as leader. Taiwan would have already been under the One Country Two Systems model had he played a quiet and civilised game of poker instead of a noisy game of mahjong with the worst drunken uncles of the CCP.

As a retired ROC Navy officer, who had been trained in the US, I believe the closer military exchanges focusing on real-world combat training is critical and much needed to ROC Armed Forces as it hasn't seen hot conflict for decades.

China claims that is is peaceful and does not attack its neighbors. However countries like India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan among others have time and again raised concerns over China's belligerent behavior in the South China Sea and at land borders.


In 2020, Chinese troops transgressed the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh with an objective to capture the land.

There are apprehensions in the global community that China will do to Taiwan what Russia is doing with Ukraine.

Just hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation against Ukraine on February 24, Taiwan's defence ministry had claimed that nine Chinese aircraft had entered its air defense identification zone.

According to the Chinese administration, Taiwan is their breakaway province and has vowed to reunite it with the mainland, if necessary, by force. The one thing common between Ukraine and Taiwan is that they have support from the United States and its allies.

It's scary because sections of the world have to advance in order to remain alive. Falling insufficient will result in being engulfed by the more powerful persistent side. It's really a conflict and compeittion most of the time with constant settlements and complacency on levels that aren't at the very best. If it falls apart there, the rest underneath would fall apart too. People need to always be ready for dynamic changes but most of the time it's just maintenance of how it was decades ago. Depending on what people believe and have would result in whether or not they can make it in today and in the future. Anyone who doesn't understand war has no idea what goes on at the highest-levels of human life.
