VIDEO DESCRIPTION
Preparations for my first solo photography exhibit (starting September 15th at Casa Romantica in San Clemente, CA) continue moving forward. I've finally picked out all of the prints I plan to show and I have the files ready for my printing house to get started.

This step of the process was difficult for a fella like myself who can't even decide what he wants for dinner half the time. Which photos to display, what sizes to make them, what framing styles to do...it's a whole lot of "well that would look good. But so would that. Oh and that too. But which one is best? Shit... Well, I guess I'll just commit to this decision for 8-10 hours and then completely doubt everything about myself before changing my mind."

29 photographs. That's how many I'll be displaying at this exhibit. 4 will be C-Type prints on Fuji Crystal Archive paper while the remaining 25 will be pigment prints on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper. A got a couple of different framing styles to work with, too.

Despite the tediousness and indecision of this step of the process, I'm f'ing stoked ("he's from California, you say?") to be doing this. My excitement is building big time. Not only for opening night of my first solo photography exhibit, but for that deep satisfaction I know will wash over me upon seeing all my prints framed up. Because truly...there is nothing more rewarding in photography than seeing your images in print hanging on the wall.

Good on ya, Nick, supporting raptor rehab. I work with Blue Mountain Wildlife in Pendleton, Oregon. It's an incredibly worthy cause to support returning as many injured birds to the wild as possible.

When I got the notification for this video I thought it said "Picking Out PANTS for My Photo Exhibit"

Still would've tuned in right away 🤣

I am SO glad I got to see that video with the feathers before it was gone. And I think this is a brilliant idea to donate

Yes, don't compromise or cut any corners on materials or hours spent on placing things just right because, from what I know from following your channel, you would regret and ruminate it forever! Pride is priceless! That being said, hope you make a bundle!

I actually just decided to move forward with Hahnemühle Metallic Satin for my latest prints. My local printer wasn't getting the results I wanted from Photo Rag and the Satin variant had just enough diffusion to convince me. I'm really happy with the results, but understand why you chose not to. Under the right lighting (where it doesn't produce any reflections), I think the additional contrast makes the Metallic Satin a homerun.

Desert Hopper is one of my favorites that I’ve seen you talk about.

Interesting to watch the development and staging of your exhibit. Your attention to detail and the planning of moving the viewers eye from print to print is admirable.👏

Oh how much I wish I could be there and buy a six-footer from you. I have an 18 foot long wall that after 3 years is still without an appropriate photo or paining. Greetz from Berlin 🙋‍♂️

I remember the hawk feather story Nick. I was surprised to see that image in the exhibit plan until the ending of the video

So I might have been in Gila Bend, AZ, over the weekend and might have also taken a similar photo of that water/ice station (except in the blistering 114F sun, not sunset).

This is exciting!! I can't wait to see all the prints come together!! This series of video kinda has that feel of when you go shopping with your friend for like a new guitar or a stereo or a new car! You help you buddy spend money and you still get that adrenalin rush but you don't have to pay for the stuff! Great for us not so great for you! 😁 And it is so satisfying seeing your art go from negative through to framed piece. My first job after graduating art school was at a gallery as a high end framer. So I know how expensive framing can be. I'm sure people don't appreciate how expensive a sheet of non-reflective UV coated museum quality glass can be! 💲💲💲

Exciting stuff Nick! So much work to get done in prep for the exhibit, but it looks like a lot of fun. Best of luck in the rest of your prep and hope you knock it out of the park at the exhibition.

A paper you might like - Canson Baryta Photographique II - will give you a little more if that dynamic pop without being too glossy or having a darker base. I use this for most of my darker shots.

Great gesture regarding the Hawk feathers, , , i'm sure they will sell out like hot cakes. Some how, i don't think you will be out of pocket, it will be a top quality exhibition...
