The only time I felt worship was dry or pointless was when I felt the worship leader was “calling it in”. I draw strength from the worship leader. When that happens, I make myself worship harder and try to get the worship leader or team draw from me. I think God was trying to show me that it is all about Him and not about what is going on in our heads.

when I focus on MY worship it's more meaningful than when I try to get others to worship. I think that makes it real instead of forced. Thinking of singing/playing as prayer/communication with God takes away the performance feeling.

I have definitely felt like my worship was dry and or forced. A cause could be from distractions, my heart not being in the right place, or me feeling like I should be feeling something from God when it should be about God alone. A remedy would be for me to remember it's about him not me. Remove anything that I am putting before him, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any causes.
2. God could have been teaching me to be aware of our relationship.

So, the only times I have felt "dry" in worship are when I lost sight of the main thing ... JESUS. Back in earlier times I my life I was caught in my own cycle of comparison and didn't feel like I "fit in". When I focus on JESUS and give everything -to my craft, my team, my church, then I do not feel dry
